My Website is taking a radical shift, to more experiential and less of a focus on developing workshops. Within the last 6 months, I have been reflecting on how to use utilize my strengths in promoting my work as a sound practitioner and where my skills truly reside. What I found is that I enjoy playing for groups, particular to sound journeys where my colleagues ask me to attend as well as at the Big Beat, and various Sonica Sanctus. Read more »

July UpdateJune was a fruitful month. I completed Gary Diggins series, continued my lessons and found ways to be involved in the sound community. CASP met at the Park at Woodbine and we all jammed together for a few hours. I attended the conference with Barbara Marx Hubbard and I was asked to play my didgerdoo at the closing cermonies. I felt honored to have been able to give using my breath to sustain me. During the later part of June I sat in a one week solo meditation at my home. I do this twice a year and other times I sit in community. I have been learning to play the shofar and work with my breath to sustain me. After a year of practicing I was able to sustain a long and short drones. I often sound the Shofar as it awakens my heart and allows me to hear the calling, my didgerdoo sustains a deeper resonance within my body. Read more » |

May 2010 UpdateWelcome, it has been quite some time since I have updated my blog, more than a few months. My life has taken quite a different turn, as you can see from my website I have decided to take off one of the workshops because I require extensive training in the area of trauma which I currently do not have and am considering at this time. For those who have been reading my blog updates they were written by Gary Diggins, he edited my blog updates as writing presents a challenge given my disability. I have decided now to write my own blogs without any editing. Summer is here and to stay, it is a time of renewal for me and reflection. |

December UpdateAlthough the fall tends to be a time when nature slows down, my autumn season was just the opposite. I’ve been actively involved in a busy yet productive cycle of soundwork. Along with Gary Diggins, I co-facilitated a series of didgeridoo workshops that brought together a configuration of players who ranged from beginner level and to more advanced skills. I’m not sure who learned more, facilitator or student. Playing the didgeridoo, let alone teaching the basic techniques to others, seems to be a continuous learning curve for me. Given my learning challenges, it was important for me to prepare diligently for each workshop. I had to outline my roles, identify what I could impart, write out a script at times, and then hope for the best. I had never co-facilitated a workshop of this nature before and so this new role required me to step up to the plate (or mouthpiece) in a mindful way. Read more » |

September UpdateThis past July I attended Level Two of the Soundwork Practitioner program with Gary Diggins, his faculty, and a grouping of participants that quickly became a community. I found this level both profound and challenging. The training gave me more of a foundational understanding around designing and conducting soundwork sessions for groups. At one point, the process challenged me in terms of working in smaller teams to create and conduct sonic rituals and therapeutic journeys for the class. Read more » |

An UpdateIn the last several months, I have facilitated a workshop for public school students in Oakville helping students to understand the cultural significance of the didgeridoo, the sacred instrument of Australia’s Aboriginal people. Birth Stories played live at the Mayfair Racquet and Squash club/Spin classOn Friday March 27th Tanya Sarganson the Director of fitness at the Mayfair Racquest and Squash Club on the lakeshore played from our CD the song Boundlessness. Unfortunately I was unable to spin that day, but in looking through the class doors outside of the studio to my excitment I saw 25 people spin to Boundlessness. Hearing my chinese vocables and TMans chanting with the digderdoo and funk music playing together I was in awe. I thought at first “no this is not us” even though I was not spnning myself to a a injury I was grooving to the music. Read more » |
